Apple‘s latest technological marvel, the Vision Pro, will be available in select countries worldwide in a few weeks.
When will Apple Vision Pro be available?
Apple has announced that after its debut in the United States on 2 February 2024, the Vision Pro is set to make its international presence felt.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned Apple analyst, has indicated that Apple plans to release the Vision Pro in international markets before WWDC 2024.
This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the global ecosystem for visionOS, Apple’s groundbreaking new operating system.
Kuo noted,
“The reasons why Apple hasn’t released Vision Pro in non-US markets yet include limited initial supply, ensuring smooth sales in the US market, and time needed to modify algorithms to comply with regulations in other countries.”
Apple’s Vision Pro, a spatial computer, combines augmented reality and virtual reality features, controlled through eye, hand, and voice commands.
Priced at $3,499, it is poised as a significant investment in the AR/VR market. The device boasts 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones, offering a comprehensive AR experience.
It allows users to access apps as if they are floating in the air, with support for a range of applications including Fantastical, Freeform, JigSpace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and many more.
Despite its high price tag and the need to be plugged into a power source at all times, the Vision Pro has generated substantial buzz in tech circles.
Its innovative features include an exterior display showing the user’s eyes to the outside world and a new chip for rapid sensor data processing.
The headset, however, faces stiff competition in a market with several mixed and virtual reality devices.
Looking towards the future, Apple is reportedly working on a lighter, more comfortable, and potentially cheaper version of the headset.
However, any official announcement regarding this new version might only come late this year or in 2025.
Will the Apple Vision Pro be available in South Africa?
As for its availability in South Africa, there’s still a shroud of uncertainty.
While Apple hasn’t provided a specific release date for the Vision Pro in South Africa, the company has confirmed that the headset will be available in more countries later this year.
This news is a beacon of hope for Apple enthusiasts in the region, eagerly awaiting the arrival of this sophisticated spatial computer.
