DStv is finding new ways to reinvent its service offering and the latest development comes with good news for Amazon Prime Video subscribers.

DStv launches new decoder — Explora Ultra

Multichoice has officially launched its Explora Ultra decoder and with it comes apps like Netflix, Joox, Box Office and Showmax already built into the system.

Quoted by My Broadband, the cable network’s chief executive Nyiko Shiburi described the acquisition of Amazon Prime as a move to make DStv the home of exceptional content.

“This opportunity unlocks access to more quality global content for our customers and is another way to access Amazon Prime Video content, whilst complementing DStv’s promise to offer the very best in local content,” he said.

At the touch of a button, DStv account holders will be able to access the enormous library of content on offer at Amazon Prime, including Amazon Originals.

Some of the streaming services’ most popular titles include The Wilds, Homecoming, The Boys, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and many more.

Subscribers can easily access the new feature on the Explora Ultra by selecting the Amazon Prime icon on the decoder’s homepage. The sign-in process will work the same as setting up on a smart TV.

Users without an account can press the Amazon Prime icon and select the ‘sign up’ option. This will take users to a new window where they will have to fill in details and make a payment to activate their subscription.

DStv monthly prices will stay the same. By activating a subscription on Amazon Prime, users will enter into a separate agreement with the streaming platform at around R90 per month, depending on the currency standings — between the rand and the dollar — on the day.

“The Explora Ultra is a one-stop-shop for entertainment fans looking to access a catalogue of dynamic entertainment from multiple content providers,” Shiburi said
