Microsoft has announced the release of a new Xbox system update which is set for consoles and PC accounts later this month.
Microsoft set to roll out big Xbox system update in April 2023
As reported by My Broadband, the system update will feature a redesigned search page, gallery-style results, simplified filter categories, and an updated navigation interface.
From what we know, the update will also include adjustable active hours power settings that allow users to select the Shutdown (energy-saver) option to conserve power and enable carbon-aware updates on their console.
In a blog post, Microsoft explained this feature aims to reduce the carbon footprint by optimising updates and downloads to run at a time when the console can use the most renewable energy.
The redesigned search page offers a fresh look, adding the option for users to “search on YouTube” within the ‘Movies and TV’ tab.

The update also introduces a new way for users to access the search page, whether it is by tapping the Search button at the top of the dashboard, finding the magnifying glass icon within the guide, or pressing Y on their controller from anywhere within Xbox’s user interface.
Microsoft aims to help conserve energy by providing users with an option to set times for the console to be ready to wake up rather than power on from a shutdown state.
When the Xbox’s active hours are done for the day, the console will fully shut down and draw 0.5 watts, as compared to 10-15 watts while active.

However, it should be noted that the Sleep power option is set to “always active” by default, meaning it never shuts down entirely unless this setting is adjusted.
The update will start rolling out to users in April 2023, and it is expected to enhance the gaming experience for Xbox users. The company encourages users to provide feedback on the new features and functionalities that the update introduces.
