Trevor Noah returned as host of the 2023 Grammys, and boy did he not disappoint.
Five Trevor Noah funny moments from the 2023 Grammys
The South African comedian returned to host the Recording Academy ceremony for the third time, on Sunday, and suffice it to say, he brought back the humour that’s lost from late-night US television since his departure from The Daily Show.
Noah’s monologue was a refresher, to say the least. The 38-year-old opened the ceremony with a shoutout to the night’s history-maker, Beyoncé, claiming his Daily Show departure was “inspired by the lyrics of ‘Break My Soul’.”
“Beyoncé is nominated for her album Renaissance, which by the way, was better than anything from the actual renaissance in my opinion. The Renaissance was just pictures of grapes and stuff.
“Beyoncé took it to another level. I was so inspired by the lyrics of ‘Break My Soul’ that I actually quit my job. That’s how powerful that was. I just wish Beyoncé had also written a song about the importance of having savings before you quit your job, but maybe the next one,” he quipped.
The South African comedian, whose homecoming tour kicks off in August 2023, shared viral moments with Harry Styles, and Taylor Swift and, perhaps, one of the funniest moments of the evening with Adele, who fangirled over Dwayne Johnson in their first-ever encounter.
Without a doubt, Noah’s third return to host the Grammys was an all-around success. Here are five Trevor Noah funny moments from the 2023 Grammys:
