Details about the incident were unclear when this article was published. However, according to sources, law enforcement officials have cordoned off a portion of the underpass on the R24 that runs beneath Van Riebeek Avenue.

It’s believed at least three freight trucks were involved in a collision, albeit it’s unclear if any casualties or serious injuries were reported.
Consequently, traffic exiting OR Tambo International Airport headed in the direction of Bedfordview has been affected, with the route completely closed.
Motorists making their way in and around the region are advised to consider the following alternative routes:
- OR Tambo Airport inbound: Use Herman Street and reconnect to R24 at Driefontein Road; and
- OR Tambo Airport outbound: Exit R24 on Driefontein Road and use Minuach Road to connect to St John Road via Hurlyvale Avenue.
Law enforcement officials and emergency services were at the scene redirecting traffic and clearing the debris when this article was published.
The cause of the accident remains unknown.
