Three suspects linked to the viral attack on New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine at the LA Fitness gym in South Floria, on 21 March 2023, were arrested this week.
Tekashi 6ix9ine attackers arrested: Here’s what we know
According to media reports, 43-year-old Rafael Medina Jr, Octavious Medina (23) and Anthony Maldonado (25) were hauled to jail on Thursday, 30 March 2023, and booked for robbery and assault.
Details on the arrest are still scarce but from what we understand, tracking down the trio seen on several viral videos beating down the GOOBA rapper at the gym’s sauna area was not a tall order for local authorities.
For one, the men’s faces were clearly visible on CCTV footage taken from the gym’s lobby on Tuesday, 21 March 2023.
Moreover, 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro made it clear, at the time, his client had every intention of reporting the assault to the FBI.
From what we understand, the suspects in 6ix9ine’s assault were held at the Palm Beach County Jail when this article was published. It remains unclear if the alleged attackers have legal representation or whether they will launch a bid for bond.
You will recall that 6ix9ine was granted early release in January 2020 after he took down an entire subdivision of the New York ‘Bloods’, the Treyways, which he used to increase his popularity.
While it’s not explicitly confirmed, social media reports suggest the attack at LA Fitness may have links to his identity as a snitch.
Also, 6ix9ine has yet to resurface on social media with a public statement on the incident.
