The weather forecast for South Africa on Monday includes severe weather warnings with potential for disruptive rains and thunderstorms in various parts of the country.
Impact-based warnings
An Orange Level 5 warning has been issued for disruptive rain that could lead to flooding of roads and settlements, as well as a major disruption to traffic flow along the coast between King Sabatha Dalindyebo in the Eastern Cape and Mandeni in KwaZulu-Natal.
A Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to localised flooding has also been issued for areas between Buffalo City Metro and Port Edwards.
Additionally, another Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms expected over the western and central interior of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, as well as parts of Gauteng, north-eastern Free State, and most parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
These thunderstorms may bring damaging winds, a large amount of small hail, and heavy downpours, and could cause damage to poorly constructed settlements and break tree branches.
No specific advisories or fire danger warnings were issued.

Eastern Cape
Both the western and eastern halves of the province will see partly cloudy to cloudy and cool conditions with varying degrees of showers and thundershowers.
Free State
The weather will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, becoming isolated in the west where it will be partly cloudy.
Gauteng
Monday’s weather will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, clearing up to partly cloudy skies by the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index is low.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog is expected over the interior, with cloudy and cool to cold conditions bringing widespread showers and thundershowers. Coastal winds will be moderate to fresh, easterly to southeasterly, and the UVB sunburn index is moderate.
Limpopo
The forecast shows cloudy and cool weather conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Mpumalanga
Similar to Gauteng, it will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, more widespread in the southern part of the province.
North West
Partly cloudy and warm conditions are expected, although it will be cloudy and cool in the east with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Northern Cape
Partly cloudy skies in the east will give way to fine and cool conditions, warming up in the northern areas. Coastal winds will shift from moderate northerly to south-westerly by the afternoon.
Western Cape
A mix of partly cloudy and fine conditions will prevail, becoming hot in the west. Coastal areas will remain cool, and the UVB sunburn index is very high.
