Renowned South African actor Sthembiso “SK” Khoza was reportedly admitted to a hospital in England following an alleged assault by his fiancée, Choice Kate Mathebula.
SK Khoza opens up about the alleged assault
Khoza, who had been absent from social media for nearly a month, shared the distressing news in a now-deleted live video on his Instagram page earlier today. From his hospital bed, Khoza revealed the details of the incident:
“My fiancée almost took my life. I want to address the issue of physical abuse inflicted on men by women. I will not stay silent. Choice Kate Mathebula attacked me, and I currently bear injuries all over my body.”
Displaying visible injuries, including a swollen upper lip, bruised neck, and cuts on his arms and ears, Khoza expressed a yearning for his mother’s presence during the assault:
“I wish my mother was here right now. She would confront that girl and say, ‘Officers, I’ll handle her; don’t take her away.'”
When questioned by a concerned fan about the cause of the altercation, Khoza, with a bandage on his hand, chose not to disclose the specific circumstances that led to the attack:
“I’m not sure. What I do know is that I almost lost my ear and finger tonight. Both my knees are broken. From a spatula to a tin opener to a knife, now I find myself lying in an English hospital.”
Expressing confusion over any perceived wrongdoing on his part, Khoza questioned whether he deserved such violent treatment, regardless of his actions:
“I don’t even know what I did. Even if I did or said something wrong, does that justify being beaten? Is that what you’re suggesting?”
In 2021, Khoza’s ex-fiancée, Ayanda Hlongwane, accused him of being abusive. However, during the live video, Khoza asserted that people should not assume he was experiencing retribution:
“I have never laid a hand on a woman in my life. If that were the case, I’m certain that when I was in court with my ex-fiancée, other women would have come forward and said, ‘Yes, he has harmed me before.’ I have never assaulted a woman and never will.”
Khoza wants Choice Kate Mathebula to face ‘serious charges’
Khoza shared his hope that his fiancée would be detained, as he intended to press “serious charges.” The police were present during the live video stream:
“I want to set an example because men are often reluctant to report abuse to the police. It is common for people to say, ‘My husband hits me, my boyfriend hits me,’ but as men, we rarely file complaints against women who assault us. I am tired of this.”
No further information was provided regarding Khoza’s purpose in England, whether related to work, vacation, or visiting his fiancée.
