Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize is no stranger to controversy and her no-show on the first season of Umkhokha, a Sunday night drama about two families fighting for a church, left fans speculating about a possible rift between her and producers.
MaMkhize sets the record straight about Umkhokha
The multi-millionaire businesswoman was first linked to the soapie when she surfaced in pictures with the show’s executive producer Mandla Kheswa.
However, when the first season came and went without so much as a cameo from MaMkhize, the rumour mill bubbled with speculation.
Speaking toTshisa Live, the Royal AM owner confirmed that indeed, talks did take place about her possibly extending her acting record with a spot in Umkhokha‘s cast.
You will remember that MaMkhize made her acting debut on Uzalo in early 2021.
However, this time around, issues related to her busy schedule as a football club owner came in the way of her commitment to Umkhokha.
“They wanted me to come in but by the time I was supposed to come in, that’s when I had my issues with soccer and had to buy a new club. I was committed to starting a new club so I couldn’t be in Umkhokha,” she said.
The 47-year-old has not ruled out the possibility of an appearance on the Mzansi Magic soapie when season two comes around. But, as far as acting gigs go, MaMkhize prefers to be approached, rather than hunting for roles.
” I don’t want to say anything now but watch this space. Anything is possible with MaMkhize,” she teased.
