Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children will not be granted His/Her Royal Highness titles when they are appointed as Prince and Princess by King Charles III.
Harry and Meghan’s children will not receive HRH titles: Why?
According to the DailyMail, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children have not received royal titles in the wake of the Queen’s death. The couple has two children, Archie, age three, and Lilibet, age one.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on 8 September 2022, after 70 years on the throne.
Though, a report claims the new King and the couple over have been in talks recent days. These talks have left the the Sussexes “furious” that their children will not also get HRH titles.
Harry and Meghan are said to have highlighted that Prince Andrew’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie have HRH status. Even though they are not working royals.
Technically, Archie and Lili can now use the titles of Prince and Princess. This is because they are now the children of a son of a sovereign.
However, according to the royal website, Archie and Lilibet is listed as ‘master’ and ‘miss’, respectively. Their parents or Buckingham Palace have not confirmed whether the children will use the titles.
The King has expressed his love for Harry, Meghan, and their children. A palace spokesperson highlighting to the Express that all titles will be updated as they are announced.
When asked if Archie and Lili will in fact take up the titles of prince and princess, the spokesperson for the said:
“At the moment, we’re focused on the next 10 days and as and when we get information, we will update that website.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do have the choice to accept or reject the titles for their children if they are offered.
Meanwhile, William and Kate’s titles have already changed.
The couple has become the new Prince and Princess of Wales. Then-Prince Charles and Princess Diane previously held this role.
