New music in South Africa on Friday, 2 September 2022, includes a subpar response from Cassper Nyovest to Big Zulu, who, on the same day, dropped a high-octane banger featuring Nasty C.
What new music releases dropped in South Africa?
Following what’s been a quiet period only held up by the resurgence of SA Hip-Hop under the stewardship of Big Zulu, a slew of artists resurfaced to the music fold with new drops on Friday.
Phantom Steeze assembled a quality list of collaborators on the remake of his street hit single Zonke, and SA’s hottest celebrity couple, AKA and Nadia Nakai, traded impressive verses, albeit the former could have a case to argue in checking his girl for basically bragging about being on Vic Mensa’s hit list – but that’s neither here nor there.
Priddy Ugly, who’s only weeks away from his first-ever celebrity boxing match against Nyovest, also represented Pretoria with the release of MUD, a seven-track project that features Maglera Doe Boy.
We already know who Big Zulu’s putting his money on at Sun Arena.
An honourable mention goes to Maglera for delivering his first album, Diaspora, on Wednesday.
