Lil Uzi Vert has made global headlines for antics that have absolutely nothing to do with his music.
Lil Uzi Vert implanted a pink diamond on his face – This isn’t fake news
The 24-year-old rapper from Philadelphia, US, is a long way into his successful career from when we were first introduced to him on the Migos’ Bad and Boujee hit from 2017.
At this stage of his career, Vert has millions of dollars to spend, as he commands the respect of the music industry with a top-selling catalogue that’s much sought after.
So, what does a super rich 24-year-old do to spoil himself? Some people with his bank balance would probably build a portfolio of investments to harvest their wealth.
Others would probably spend a good fortune on material items like flashy sports cars and real estate. But, Uzi already has that and we assume he is a smart lad so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that some of his wealth is nurturing growth in the stock market.
Still, Uzi needed to do more, something that has never been accomplished before in Hip-Hop history. What did he do? Well, the 24-year-old recruited the help of celebrity jeweller Elliante to implant a rare pink diamond on his forehead, drawing inspiration from Marvel’s Avengers character Vision who wielded the Mind Stone in the blockbuster film series.
A whopping R359.2 million on the rapper’s face – Literally!
According to the rapper, it took him years to fork out the $24 million (R359.2 million) price tag of the pink diamond that sits — rather uncomfortably — between his eyes.
“I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now. This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond. A lot of M’s in my face,” Uzi tweeted over the weekend, before his huge unveiling.
The reason for this grandscale absurdity? Well, we will leave it to Lil Uzi to explain…
I’m literally tryna turn into a Diamond
