An email leaked to TMZ shows that Kim Kardashian became an instant millionaire shortly after her infamous sextape with William ‘Ray J‘ Norwood Jr was released 15 years ago.
Here’s how much the Kim Kardashian sextape made
An email and a monthly income statement sent to Kardashian on 1 May 2007 shows her notorious amateur adult film made more than $1.4 million in revenue when it was released on 14 March of that year.
The email sender, Vivid Entertainment founder Steve Hirsch reportedly leaked the documents to TMZ following Ray J’s epic outburst, where he made several startling allegations against Kanye West‘s estranged wife and her mother, Kris Jenner.
On the income statement, which you can see below, a large portion of the revenue was made from DVD sales which amounted to $1.25 million, while internet earnings totalled $126 908.
In another point of vindication for Ray J, the income statement clearly shows a recoupment balance of $400 000 and a third-party 12.5% share which amounted to $174 577.
During his epic Instagram meltdown, Ray J had insisted that he and Kardashian had — with the help of Jenner’s coaching — entered into a contractual agreement where each party was to be paid $400 000 plus a 12.5% share of profits.
It remains unclear if Kardashian accepted the proceeds listed on the income statement. What we do know, however, is that Kim had filed a lawsuit against Hirsch in February 2007 in a bid to prevent the release of the sextape.
A few weeks later, the infamous adult film hit the streets and, coincidentally, the lawsuit was dropped on 27 April 2007. The income statement and email leaked to TMZ by Hirsch were sent to Kardashian just four days later, noting the seven-figure earnings her explicit film had garnered.
The email leak showing the million-dollar revenues the Kim Kardashian sextape made is the latest gob-smacker to surface from the saga since Ray J’s meltdown this past weekend.
Brandy’s brother sent shockwaves reverberating across the metaverse when, in a series of videos, he accused the Kardashian ‘klan’ of not only orchestrating Kim’s ascension to fame but also profiting heavily from the scandal at the expense of his reputation.
Ray J’s outbursts were in response to Kris and Kylie Jenner’s recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where the matriarch supposedly participated in a lie detector test and passed on the question of whether she had orchestrated the release of the Kim Kardashian sextape.
In an Instagram Story post he published on Monday evening, Ray J warned he was far from done with exposing the Kardashians.
“That was just the appetiser. [Stay] tuned for the pre-dinner tonight live in NYC. Clear my name!” the caption read.
Neither Kim Kardashian nor her mother has addressed the scandal.
