South African actress Kim Engelbrecht has a massive opportunity of adding a 2022International Emmy Award to her list of achievements.
She already has two South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) to her name.

As per Drum Magazine, Engelbrecht received a nomination for her role as Reyka Gama on the M-Net drama series Reyka.
Reyka follows the life of a criminal profiler who investigates a string of brutal murders committed by a serial killer in the sugarcane fields of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Engelbrecht acts alongside Iain Glen and Leeanda Reddy in the thriller.
The series is also a finalist in the category for Best Drama Series, up against the likes of Lupin, Narcos: Mexico, and Vigil.
Reyka bagged four awards at the 2022 SAFTAs. The awards included, Best Actress, Directing Scriptwriting, and Cinematography. It was also nominated for TV Drama, Best Actor, Editing, and Make-Up and Hairstyling.
Engelbrecht is now the fifth African actress to ever receive a nomination at the 2022 International Emmy Awards. She has joined the ranks of Every Week On a Friday’s Menna Shalabi, Is’thunzi’s Thuso Mbedu, Lerato Mvelase, and Home Affairs’ Brenda Ngxoli.
Who is Kim Engelbrecht?
Kim Suzanne Engelbrecht was born on 20 June 1980 in Cape Town. At the age of 12, she received the leading role of Sara in an Italian production of Sarahsara. She then went on to host SABC’s educational show, Take 5.
In the early 2000s, Engelbrecht landed a small role as a troubled teenager, Lolly De Klerk, on the SA series, Isidingo. She would eventually become a regular on the show. She also won a SAFTA for the role.
The 42-year-old is also known for the roles in Boy Called Twist, Eye in the Sky, Dominion, and Dating Game Killer. She was also cast as the mechanic Marlize DeVoe in the American superhero series, The Flash.
