Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), rallied his party’s supporters in a passionate speech at the FNB Stadium, marking the EFF’s 10th anniversary in the political landscape.

With the 2024 general elections on the horizon, Malema vowed to tackle social issues, corruption, and crime and pledged to make significant changes once the EFF is in power.
In his speech, Malema declared that the EFF is the answer to the challenges faced by South African citizens. He assured the public that the party is ready to govern and address critical issues, including crime, corruption, and student debt.
Julius Malema’s plans for a future EFF-led government include free education for students burdened with debt, and collaborations with Cuba to improve primary healthcare services.
He aims to create opportunities for young people and ensure that quality education is accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints.
Taking Aim at Panyaza Lesufi and ANC’s Gauteng Leadership
In a scathing critique, Julius Malema criticised the Gauteng government’s youth job recruitment programme led by Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
He accused the ANC of using these initiatives as bribery to gain support ahead of the 2024 elections. Malema called out Lesufi for allegedly offering stipends in exchange for votes and vowed to expel those hired through the Nasi Ispani programme whom he believes to be ANC campaigners.
“He is a little boy with a snotty face. He doesn’t know anything. He went and took our children to Orlando Stadium to give them papers that did not deserve to be in their hands.
“He humiliated them. He filled them up in a stadium, stating that he would give them a stipend. It is not a stipend, it is bribery, so that you can vote for the ANC. We don’t want bribery. We want the land, we want jobs, and we want them now! And they must be quality jobs,” Malema said.
Challenging Cyril Ramaphosa and Fighting Corruption
Julius Malema did not spare President Cyril Ramaphosa in his speech, accusing him of being a thief who deserved to be in jail. The EFF leader expressed his intention to hold the president accountable for alleged wrongdoings, although no evidence of criminality was presented during the speech.
With strong conviction, Malema expressed confidence in the EFF’s success in the 2024 elections, particularly in Gauteng. He rallied his supporters, affirming that the EFF would overcome poverty and inequality once in power.
The EFF’s anniversary rally saw the presence of other political party leaders, including Bantu Holomisa of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster of the Black First Land First (BOSA), and Vuyolwethu Zungula of the African Transformation Movement (ATM).
