The Eastern Cape province is facing a series of weather warnings on Tuesday, 26 September 2023, including damaging winds, strong waves, and disruptive rainfall, following widespread rains and flooding in the neighbouring Western Cape over the long weekend.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a series of warnings indicating the potential severity of these weather conditions.
An Orange Level 9 warning, signifying the expectation of severe impact, was issued for disruptive rain in the southwestern parts of the Eastern Cape on Monday.
Additionally, an Orange Level 6 warning, indicating significant impact, was issued for disruptive rain affecting the Nelson Mandela Bay, Kouga, Sundays River Valley, Makana, Ndlambe, and Ngqushwa municipalities.
These warnings are accompanied by concerns of possible flooding, endangerment to human life, and damage to property.
In addition to the rainfall warnings, an Orange Level 6 warning has been declared for damaging winds and waves, which could disrupt ports and small harbours spanning from Plettenberg Bay to Durban.

For specific regions within the Eastern Cape, a Yellow Level 4 warning has been announced for disruptive rain in:
- Dr Beyers Naude (Willowmore Area);
- Blue Crane;
- Inxuba Yethemb;
- Enoch Mgijima;
- Raymond Mhlaba; and
- Amahlathi municipalities, as well as the Buffalo City metro.
This alert suggests moderate impact due to disruptive rain.
For some parts of the western interior of the Eastern Cape, a Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for damaging interior winds.
These winds could result in minor disruptions to transport routes, with travel services potentially affected by wind-related issues such as falling trees or dust storms.
