Powerhouse Hip-Hop producer DJ Citi Lyts (Sandile Mkhize) was confirmed dead by his family, who claim he was murdered.

The man credited for producing the classic Washa single release was allegedly gunned down in the wee hours of Monday morning, a family spokesperson confirmed.
According to the family’s statement, the incident occurred in Soweto, shortly after midnight.
“He got shot. A VW polo came and four armed guys jumped out pointing guns at everyone. When they pointed the gun at Citi Lyts one of the friends tried calming the situation, saying ‘guys lets not do this, what’s going on?’
“Then shots were fired at Citi, in the stomach. When he fell everyone else ran away. As they were running shots were being fired,” the family source noted.
Currently, an investigation is underway to track down the silver VW Polo involved in the producer’s cold-blooded murder.

Citi Lyt’s passion for music production extends back to his high school years, where he partook in Hip-Hop and dance competitions.
The 32-year-old’s rise to prominence in the genre came when taken under the wings of iconic Hip-Hop rapper ProKid.
A brief stint as an Ambitiouz Entertainment signee culminated in chart-topping hit singles such as:

- Shishiliza
- Malambane

Police have issued a plea for witnesses who may have information on the murder of DJ Citi Lyts to come forward and file a report.
“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist apprehend the suspects to call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.” the statement read.
