City Power is currently addressing a series of unplanned outages affecting several areas, on Monday.
City Power outage report for Monday, 15 April 2024
As of Monday, 15 April 2024, City Power’s Hursthill Service Delivery Centre (SDC) reported 575 unresolved service calls.
With 49 plants currently out of service, the electrical supply system is significantly strained, the electricity supplier stressed in a statement.
In response, City Power appealed to the public to help protect electrical infrastructure from vandalism, theft, and tampering, which contribute to the frequency and severity of outages.
While the national loadshedding schedule has been on a 19-day run of no blackouts, Gauteng’s power supplier warned that “the system is under severe strain.”
“We will continue to update the affected customers on the progress on our Hursthill Outage Update WhatsApp channel as well as on social media,” the statement read.

Auckland Park
Technical teams are tracking down the cause of a power interruption following a trip in the Auckland Park 11kv distributor. Restoration efforts will begin once the fault is identified and addressed.
Vrede Park
Efforts to restore power are ongoing in Vrede Park, where a cable fault has disrupted service. Teams are working diligently to bring power back to affected customers.
Roosevelt Park
In Roosevelt Park, repair work on the transformer substation (TSS) Ebony continues. This station feeds Northcliff, Fairlands, and nearby areas. Following repairs, power restoration will commence.
Claremont
The Claremont area also faces interruptions after a trip in the Claremont/Westbury 11kv distributor. The test branch is conducting further tests to pinpoint and fix the underlying issues.
Westbury
Ongoing testing and repairs are underway in Westbury, where a cable fault has been identified. Restoration will follow the completion of these necessary repairs.
Coronationville
In Coronationville, operators are addressing overloading and faults following a trip in the Coronationville/Westbury 11kv distributor. This issue affects power supply in parts of Coronationville and Westbury, with restoration efforts in progress.
