Chris Rock has yet to issue a public reaction to the infamous Oscars slap but his brothers, it seems, have gladly stood in front of the firing line for him.
Chris Rock didn’t accept Will Smith apology, brother claims
Kenny Rock, the veteran comedian’s younger brother, recently took another turn in his entertainment career and signed a contract with Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman, per TMZ.
The budding actor has a date booked at the Charles F Dodge City Centre, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, for 11 June 2022. However, he’s yet to secure an opponent.
First on his wishlist, young Rock revealed, is an exhibition face-off with Will Smith, who sent shockwaves across the internet a few weeks ago, when he casually walked on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards to deliver a hard-hitting slap in the comedian’s face, a moment Chris Rock termed “the greatest night in the history of television.”
While the match-up is far from ever materialising, Kenny flirted with the idea, nonetheless. The younger brother informed reporters that Chris was doing great and was in no rush to afford the world his reaction to the slap.
Also, he believes Chris has not accepted Smith’s public apology. Kenny did not go into specifics of his recent encounters with Chris, but he did confirm they’ve talked and he “highly doubts” that his big bro is ready to squash things with the King Richards actor.
Of course, Smith has been banned for 10 years by The Academy following the slap. Kenny, however, is sceptical.
“Well, we have to see if he’s actually gonna get the 10-year ban. They might say ’10-year ban’ but after three years they’ll think that we may have forgot about it and slide him in there, after two years…” he said.
