Castle Lite Unlocks: Cardi B is coming to South Africa
For days, South Africans have been breaking their skulls trying to connect the dots and figure out who this mystical act is. What we knew for sure, was that the artist was a female.
We also knew that she was a groundbreaking multi-award-winning and record-breaking musician from the United States. One only has to harken back to April 2018 to remember the last time a female international artist had such an impact on global music.
In our previous article, we offered four guesses on who the headlining act would be. We hate to brag but we got it right on the first guess.
Cardi B will be coming down to South Africa for the first time ever, to perform at the Castle Lite Unlocks concert event and the internet in Mzansi has not been the same since the news was confirmed.
The madness around the early bird ticket sales almost broke the internet. Social media was divided by those who had managed to score tickets for as cheap as R50 and those who came a minute too late and were hit with the “sold out” pop-up block.
The sale of the early bird tickets ended at 19:30, 30 minutes prior to the big reveal. According to the Castle Lite Brand Director, Silke Bucker, the whole point behind this mystery unveiling was to pit South Africans to a game of trust.
Fans had no idea who’s headlining the event but they were intrigued enough to purchase tickets. For Bucker, this is the brand’s first step to doing things differently and taking it to the next level in 2020.
“Castle Lite Unlocks is in its 10th year now and has seen a decade of extraordinary musical talent, a celebration of a culture which has captivated the world and also brought African Hip-Hop to the fore. It is now time to step things up and take Unlocks to new heights while paying homage to the culture of Hip-Hop in Africa,” Bucker said in a statement.
When is Castle Lite Unlocks event?
The concert event is set to take place on Friday 12 June 2020. At this time, we know very little about the venue but we can confirm that gates will open at 16:00.
Details around the complete artist line-up have yet to be released.
