Cassper Nyovest was quick to douse flames around his ownership status of Billiato, an alcoholic brand he introduced to the market earlier this year.

In a week where Bonang Matheba‘s ownership claim on House of BNG made headlines, Nyovest had no choice but to confront speculation on whether he, indeed, is the proprietor of Billiato.

The rumour mill went into overdrive on Tuesday when renowned gossip microblogger and murder-accused Musa Khawula posted a tweet, claiming, with no supporting evidence, that Billiato was the property of spirits impresario David de Mardt.

While Nyovest was cautious to not reveal too many details about, for example, who produces the alcohol, he was quick to shoot down this claim as fake news, making it clear he had no intention of folding to dark forces with ulterior motives.

“I am the majority shareholder of Billiato. Not only am I an owner but I’m the founder, the CEO and Marketing director!!! I own my products. I’m not a brand ambassador or an influencer. The support from the people has been sooo amazing. Please do keep supporting us. Thank you,” he wrote in a tweet.
