Balobedu protests: What are the protesters’ demands?
The purpose of the march is to draw attention to the call for the acknowledgement of Princess Masalanabo Modjadji as the legitimate queen of the Balobedu ethnic group.
In a statement, the Tshwane Metro Police Department explained the gathering for the march is set to begin at 10:00 at Venning Park in Arcadia, Pretoria.
The route for the Balobedu protests has been outlined as follows: Starting from the assembly point at Venning Park, the marchers will proceed along Pretorius Street.
They will then make a left turn onto Leyds Street and continue until they reach the Union Buildings, a symbolically significant location in South African politics.

The following streets are expected to be affected due to the Balobedu protests:
- Farenden Street
- Beckett Street
- Johan Street
- Wessels Street
- Leyds Street
- Zeederberg Street
- Stanza Bopape Street
- Madiba Street
The event is anticipated to conclude at the Union Buildings by 13:30, at which point the protesters are expected to disperse.
To ensure safety and monitor the progress of the march, officers from the Tshwane Metro Police will be deployed along the designated route as well as the streets that will be affected.
Motorists who usually use the affected streets are strongly encouraged to seek alternative routes during the march to avoid potential traffic disruptions.
