On Sunday night, Mitchells Plain was rocked by a violent mass shooting at a tavern on Stratus Street in the Rocklands area.
Footage now circulating online shows the chaotic aftermath of the attack, where three men were killed instantly, and six others were injured.
The video, shared widely across social media platforms, depicts a scene of panic and devastation as patrons scramble to assist the wounded while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with the attackers firing indiscriminately at the crowd.
Survivors recounted moments of sheer panic and helplessness, trying to help the injured amid the chaos. The community of Mitchells Plain is in shock, with residents expressing fear and concern over the rise in gang-related violence.
What we know about the mass shooting so far
The shooting occurred around 19:30 when two unidentified gunmen targeted a group of men between the ages of 29 and 46 who were at the tavern.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut, the gunmen opened fire on the patrons, resulting in three fatalities on the scene and six individuals being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating the incident, which is believed to be connected to ongoing gang conflicts in the area.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive manhunt for the suspects, who were last seen fleeing the scene.
The police have called on the community to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.
