Queen Latifah takes on a challenging role as the lead star who drives the narrative home on the upcoming Drama film The Tiger Rising.
What is The Tiger Rising movie about?
While she is not the protagonist of this Ray Giarratana-directed movie, her wisdom as the mysterious maid does play a crucial role in the development of the story.
The Tiger Rising follows the life of 12-year-old Rob Horton (Christian Convery) who is faced with pre-teen tribulations, reacquainting himself as a new kid in rural Florida and dealing with the loss of his mother.
During his stay at the Kentucky Star Motel, Horton’s wildest imaginations are validated when he strikes a strong connection with a majestic Bengal tiger living under horrendous conditions in the woods and held captive by motel owner Beauchamp (Dennis Quaid).
This peculiar relationship between Horton and the tiger unfolds layers of grief he must uncage and guiding him along the way, is Willie May (Latifah) and Horton’s feisty new schoolmate, Sistine (Madalen Mills).

How to watch The Tiger Rising in South Africa
The Tiger Rising will premiere at movie theatres on Friday 21 January 2022, on limited release. This means that, more than likely, the film will only be available in US, EU and Asian markets.
South Africa’s movie theatres do not have the movie listed in the ‘coming soon’ catalogue and pre-booking options are not available.
The Tiger Rising will be released on digital streaming platforms (Paramount Plus) on 8 February 2022.
