Austin Butler steps into the role of a lifetime as he puts on the belt of the ‘King of Rock and Roll’, Elvis Presley, in the new musical/drama.
What is ‘Elvis’ the movie about?
Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the movie Elvis is centralised around the legendary Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) as he rises to the top in the early 1950s. As he rises to the occasion, he faces a complicated relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks), almost throughout his entire career. At the core of Presley’s very being and path is none other than his wife, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).
Spanning over almost twenty years of fame, the movie shows the not-so-sunny side of the rock and roll legend’s career, where the singer is constantly marked and tested.
The film, however, does have an age restriction of 16 as it contains strong language and substance abuse.

How to watch the Elvis movie in South Africa
The movie premiered in South Africa on 24 June 2022 in all cinemas from Nu Metro to Ster-Kinekor. While the drama can still be caught at movie theatres, it will be released digitally in August 2022 on HBO Max.
In South Africa, the US streaming service is not available as yet.
The simplest way to avoid missing out on the movie’s digital release is by subscribing to a well-reputed virtual private network (VPN). This software hides your computer’s IP address and cloaks it with a mask that tricks the browser into thinking that the request comes from another location.
In essence, a VPN can make a browser think your connection is pinging from the United States, from the comfort of your basement in Cape Town, South Africa.
With a reputed VPN subscription activated, South Africans can download and sign up to HBO Max for a maximum monthly premium of R205 ($14.99).
