Deadpool 3 is one of the most highly anticipated Marvel films. Wade Wilson/Deadpool, who made his film debut in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will be played once more by Ryan Reynolds.
Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming superhero film, from cast to release date to the plot and an exciting announcement.
‘Deadpool 3’: Wolverine returns
Reynolds broke the internet on Wednesday, 27 September 2022, when he announced that Hugh Jackman would return as the beloved Wolverine.
In a video clip that’s since gone viral, Reynolds starts by saying:
“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now.”
Ryan then disclosed that the Deadpool creative team had chosen to bring Wolverine back. Behind Reynolds, sitting on a couch, Jackman makes an appearance.
“Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?”
Hugh then replies, “Yeah, sure,” as he makes his way up the staircase. The video comically ends with Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. However, it replaces the word “you” with “Hugh.”

In a follow-up clip, Jackman joins Reynolds on the couch to ramp up the anticipation. This time, Houston’s classic mutes the actors’ explanation of how Wolverine‘s return fits into the MCU timeline.
Hugh played Wolverine, a Marvel comic book character with claws made of metal, for the first time in the 2000 film X-Men. He then went on to play this role for nine movies, ending the role with Logan.
‘Deadpool 3’: What’s it about?
The first two films unquestionably occur outside the MCU. Deadpool 3 finds itself in a unique position, even though the third instalment of the trilogy has been repeatedly confirmed to change that since it was first announced.
Reynolds will presumably be able to carry Wade Wilson from his first two Deadpool films into his third, although the specifics of that transition are still being worked out.
According to a plot tease from writers, the third Deadpool movie will directly address the fact that he is now in a completely different universe than before rather than reconning his MCU status.
Who will star in the upcoming superhero film?
Although not much is known about the film, here is the confirmed cast so far:
- Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
- Leslie Uggams is expected to return as Blind Al
Other cast members who could return for the third film include:
- Josh Brolin as Cable
- Zazie Beatz as Domino
- Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
- Stefan Kapičić as Colossus
- Julian Dennison as Russell
