The seemingly untimely death of actress Noxolo Maqashalala is the subject of a probe.
Noxolo Maqashalala has died: What’s the cause of death?
According to reports, the 44-year-old’s body was discovered on Friday, by a friend who had gone to her home in Honeydew, Johannesburg, to drop off ‘something’.
Maqashalala’s brother, as reported by Sowetan, revealed to family friend Senyukele Zibobo, that the visitor — who remains unknown — realised something was amiss when they tried to summon the actress to the door.
Much to their horror, Maqashalala’s body was found lifeless inside the house. At this time, the cause of death has not been revealed.
Strange circumstances surrounding actress’ death
Even stranger is the fact that a preliminary assessment of the actress’ body told forensic investigators that she had been dead for at least a week.
This has raised a number of questions that are at the centre of the probe, including:
- why had nobody checked in on the actress in a week?;
- who did she reside with?;
- who was the last person to see her alive?;
- was there any evidence of foul play at the scene?; and
- what was the cause of her death?
All of these questions, Zibobo said, will form part of the agenda at Maqashalala’s family meeting on Sunday.
Born in 1977, Maqashalala grew up in KwaBhaca (previously known as Mount Frere). Her rise to stardom in her acting career came in 2003 when she starred as Viwe in SABC 1’s drama series Tsha Tsha.
Maqashalala has also had cameo appearances in a number of soapies, including Generations, Rhythm City and Intersexions.
Perhaps, her career magnum opus came in 2004 when she played alongside Hollywood greats Don Cheadle and Joaquin Phoenix as Chloe on Hotel Rwanda.
Fans of the actress took to social media to react to her untimely death. Here are some of those reactions:
