La Flame has found himself in hot trouble with his fanbase after a flurry of tweets, sent from his account, left supporters with a bitter taste in their mouth.
Who is La Flame?
Born Lesego Mynandu and known better by his pseudonym, Flame is a rising fixture of the new wave of South African rappers.
Only 20 years old, Flame has garnered some hype in his early music career. He is one of the youngest members of the A-Reece-led Wrecking Crew
Why are fans mad at the rapper?
To get a better understanding of why fans have turned against Flame, we have to revisit a video that has been doing the rounds on social media.
Flame was caught on video slapping a fan at an event that took place on Saturday, 30 November.
The footage did its rounds on social media and a fan took issue with what they saw. The fan tagged Flame in their quoted tweet and described what they saw as “thuggish behaviour”.
A tweet published from Flame’s Twitter account replied to the fan with a middle finger, claiming:
“Y’all won’t believe me but I was hacked”
The tweet took off and fans immediately turned on Flame, reminding him that he would not be the rising star he is if it was not for their support.
The rapper responded to the backlash, claiming that his account was hacked. In a video he posted, Flame addressed the alleged hackers who have been trying to tarnish his image online.
Watch it below and make up your minds about whether he is telling the truth or botching a messy PR sweep-up.
