TRP has come out with a brand new music video, shot by the good folks at Shoot Your Shot, and we are here for its clean, flawless delivery.
Who is TRP?
You may not be familiar with his pseudonym if you are not from Cape Town but TRP has been buzzing for a few years.
Hailing from Mandalay, a shot left from crime-ridden and deathly Mitchells Plein, TRP is a rapper with a cool, menacing demeanour about him.
He is part of the illRow-founded Unite The Mic (UTM) family and his lyricism alone speaks highly of his ambitions in the game.
Behind the music: What did Go For Certain try to achieve?
After a brief hiatus from releasing music, the reserved member of UTM returned to the fold paying homage to “lost loved ones in heaven, letting them know that the hustle for success continues while they are gone.”
“The song is targeted for those who have a mutual history in losing anyone close to them in their lives. The feel given to this song is that of mourning but at the same time celebrating,” UTM explained in a statement.
The song features producer and UTM mastermind, illRow and the eclectic vocal carriage that is Nate Johnson.
To bring the concept of the song to life, the crew reached out to Shoot Your Shot, a newly-established team of videographers who have already made a name for themselves among the up-and-comers of Cape Town music.
The video is consistent in keeping a discomforting level of eeriness to it, while at the same time, drawing viewers in with the monochromatic cinematography.
Escape into a world of loss, resentment and recovery in TRP’s latest offering, Go For Certain. You can watch the full video below.
