Sonia Mbele threatens court action against couple from nightclub assault
The South African entertainment industry is reeling from reports of an assault involving Mbele, a renowned actress and executive producer of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, at an upscale Sandton restaurant and club.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend, was witnessed by several patrons and has reportedly left Mbele deeply shaken.
The assault on Mbele, which unfolded in public view, involved a couple, with the female assailant harbouring resentment from a failed audition for Mbele’s reality TV series.
The attack appears to have been premeditated, with a source revealing that individuals who invited Mbele to the club colluded with her attackers.
The confrontation began after an exchange over a drink order escalated quickly, resulting in the male assailant forcibly removing Mbele’s wig and using it to hit her, resulting in minor injuries.
Mbele has since declared her intention to seek legal recourse.
Her PR manager, Thato Malindi, conveyed Mbele’s determination to confront the abuse and bullying she has faced within the industry.
“She is definitely going to take legal action, that was abuse. Even if you don’t like someone, you have no right to attack them,” Malindi told ZiMoja.
The actress is reportedly consulting with her legal advisors to initiate proceedings promptly.
As a result of the incident, the couple involved in the attack has been barred from the establishment.
