The former model and estranged wife of soccer star Matthew Booth had accused Mthombeni-Moller, now Matthew’s girlfriend, of having an affair with her husband.
Following her claims, Mthombeni-Moller hit back with a defamation suit, demanding Sonia stop making allegations and apologise. However, the court sided with Sonia, dismissing the case and leaving Mthombeni-Moller with a hefty legal bill of over R75 000.
The ruling hasn’t closed the book on their rivalry, though. Despite the court’s decision, Mthombeni-Moller disputed the costs and is bracing for a hearing set for May.
Sonia, not one to hold back, expressed her frustration on social media, calling Mthombeni-Moller “nothing but air” and questioning her financial readiness for legal battles.
This legal tussle stems from a very public scandal involving Sonia’s husband, Matthew, and Mthombeni-Moller.
Last year, Sonia blew the whistle on an alleged affair between the two, sparking a media frenzy. Despite initial denials, the couple eventually went public, sharing cosy snaps and attending events together.
Recently, they were spotted at a friend’s wedding, seemingly unbothered by the ongoing drama.
Meanwhile, Matthew Booth, a former Bafana Bafana defender, has largely stayed out of the legal fray.
