Skeem Saam, the hit South African television series, is back for Season 12, bringing with it a fresh timeslot and more gripping storylines.
‘Skeem Saam’ Season 12 gets a new timeslot
In response to the audience’s requests, SABC1 has adjusted the show’s broadcasting schedule to better suit viewers’ needs.
Ofentse Thinane, SABC1 Channel Head, explained that this change was a stride towards a more “edgier and braver” channel, adaptable to audience demands.
Sumaya Petersen Mogola of Peu Communications Solutions, the Publicity Manager for Skeem Saam, expressed optimism about the timeslot change.
“A timeslot change in our 12th season will definitely be a big change for us, and it is something we will have to adjust to. However, we are positive that the change will give us an opportunity to expand and reach a larger audience,” she stated.
The team is enthusiastic about the potential to attract new viewers with their compelling storylines.

Season 12 of Skeem Saam continues its exploration of the journey to manhood, from 4 March 2024. This season, fans can expect the series to tackle old notions of masculinity and promote positive, emerging versions of masculinity in modern society.
In the season premiere, the drama unfolds as Babeile is forced to shoulder the blame for a colleague’s mental breakdown.
Meanwhile, Maputla returns, discontent with his son’s state. In another arc, Lehasa reassures Francois about Level’s well-being. The season promises to delve deep into issues of masculinity, gender relations, relationships, self-esteem, and more, challenging traditional perceptions of manhood.
The cast for this season includes Clement Maosa as Kwaito, Harriet Manamela as Meikie Maputla, Africa Tsoai as John Maputla, and Cedric Fourie as Lehasa Maphosa, among others.
