K.O went for the jugular in his Forecast 23 freestyle, where, in the midst of foreboding a well-deserved awards sweep this year, he addressed a few of his ‘opps’.
K.O drops surprise ‘Forecast’ 23 freestyle
An allegory of the last laugh is what K.O’s latest offering can be summed up as in a nutshell. The SETE star sent social media into an uproar on Wednesday when, seemingly out of the blue, he dropped off a fiery public service announcement over a CEDES beat he co-produced.
On Forecast 23, K.O sets the record straight about several hurdles that have plagued his longstanding music career. The rapper made interesting references to his record deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa, which he left with a banger — literally.
K.O also confronted his former group mate Ntukza, whom he’s had a few run-ins with on social media these past few years. Addressing a spat the former mates had in late 2022, K.O ruled out all possibility of a Teargas reunion and ended the diss by referring to Ntukza’s wife as ‘Karen’, a colloquial term used to describe a caucasian woman infamous for racist outbursts.
Right after declaring South Africa’s 2023 awards season a victory lap for his smash hit single, SETE, K.O delivered hard blows to Lady Du, who had gone on social media to ridicule the rapper’s claims of the song’s commercial success.
K.O’s surprise freestyle, Forecast 23, dropped on every digital streaming platform in an exclusive license partnership between Skhanda Republic and Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
The single can also be purchased digitally on iTunes and other participating online music stores.
Read this notice from the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) before you consider pirating the album from online bootleg sites like Fakaza:
Music piracy stunts careers, stifles talent and eats away at the ability of composers and recording artists to continue making the great music that is the soundtrack to our lives. Music piracy also takes bread off the tables of the thousands of people who work in music-related fields – from authors and composers of musical works, recording artists, to record company employees, studio producers, sound engineers and music retailers.
