Lesedi FM radio personality, Dimakatso Ratselane, came back on air after the horrifying stabbing incident with her husband that occurred in early February 2021.
What Dimakatso Ratselane endured before her return
The current affairs radio host almost lost her life after an altercation occurred with her husband, Mackenzie Ratselane, leading to her getting stabbed multiple times.
However, after going through multiple surgeries and surviving her stay in ICU, she finally returned to the radio station to continue her career.
According to Sowetan Live, the radio host had an interview on the SABC 2 show Leihlo La Sechaba, revealing everything that occurred and what was going through her mind during the assault.
She described how she was stabbed 49 times and how she had a strong feeling that she was soon meeting her fate.
“All I remember is when I turned around, he stabbed me the first time and started cursing at me – accusing me of adultery. While I was still processing what had just happened, he stabbed me the second time,” stated Ratselane.
“I tried asking him why are you doing this but he kept stabbing me. He stabbed me on my back, neck and inside my ears. I have never felt so much blood coming out of me,” she continued.
Dimakatso continued to describe the trauma she had endured with her husband, with the abuse starting to happen after she gave birth to her first child.
“One night the child cried and I sang to him and all of a sudden I heard a fist on my face. That was the first time [he hit me]. I was upset and didn’t understand what was happening,” said Ratselane.
The radio host would continuously be harassed by her husband, always isolating her from her friends and watching her every move.
However, after the stabbing, her husband was arrested and she obtained a restraining order from him.
He’s now sitting behind bars with five charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Ratselane seems to be in better spirits, knowing she is still alive and able to be with her children.
The sudden rise of GBV in the celeb world
After the news of Ratselane’s assault, there was a large uproar from angry people who were getting frustrated with the continuous cases of gender-based violence.
Most recently, Black Coffee has come under fire for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, Enhle Mbali.
Mbali has gone to court to have Black Coffee’s access to their home revoked.
Mbali has been receiving massive amounts of support with the DJ coming out on Twitter to downplay the allegations.
However, it’s clear to see that the nation is ‘gatvol’ of the continuous amounts of assault on women in the country and they don’t care if you’re a celebrity.
