2023 SAMAs new venue and date confirmed: Here’s everything we know
On Monday, the 29th SAMAs announced a strategic partnership, ensuring the esteemed event takes place as planned.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 18 November 2023, at the SunBet Arena, located within the bustling hub of Time Square, Menlyn Maine in Pretoria.
Nhlanhla Sibisi, the CEO of the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), articulated the determination and resourcefulness employed to ensure that the SAMAs would proceed without delay.
“We are humbled by the receptive and sympathetic nature of our partners at Africa Fest, who showed that the industry can be stronger when we are together,” Sibisi said.
This year’s iteration of the awards found a collaborative ally in Africa Fest, an event synonymous with the celebration of African heritage and the connective potency of music.
Africa Fest is recognised as one of South Africa’s most magnificent African concert experiences, bringing together the vibrancy and diversity of the continent.
Sibisi expressed profound gratitude towards Africa Fest, citing the spirit of unity embodied by the Sesotho adage “kopano ke matla” (unity is strength).
He lauded the willingness of Africa Fest to integrate the SAMAs into their programming, thereby guaranteeing a seamless event enriched by high production values that the South African music industry’s finest deserve.
“I have no doubt that it will be a memorable one,” Sibisi added.
Anticipation builds as the live broadcast of the awards show is confirmed to beam from the SunBet Arena, with national television coverage on SABC1 from 20:00.
This broadcast partnership with Africa Fest ensures that audiences across the country can partake in the festivities. Following the main event, attendees will revel in an after-party that promises to encapsulate the evening’s triumphs and celebrations.
