Eskom published the weekend loadshedding schedule starting on Friday, which forecasts reduced outages.

Weekend loadshedding schedule starting Friday, 8 March 2024
On Wednesday, Eskom updated this week’s schedule with a higher pattern of outages.
In a statement, the power utility confirmed loadshedding would alternate between Stage 2 during the day (05:00 – 16:00) and Stage 4 in the evenings (16:00 – 05:00) until further notice.
Therefore, barring any unexpected changes necessitated by unplanned breakdowns at Megawatt Park’s ailing generation fleet, loadshedding should be sustained at a rotation of Stage 2 and Stage 4 this weekend.

Update on breakdowns and available capacity
The last state of the power system update was on Wednesday, 6 March 2024. At the time, Eskom reported more than 16 193MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 6 171MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.
