Here’s what to expect
In a recent interview with Today.com, the housewives teased drama and opulence and just a hint of what fans are to expect from the reality TV show.
However, the announcement of the Real Housewives of Dubai did not come without criticism. For the most part, the backlash was heard from conservative locals who shunned the display of material wealth purported by women, in a country that is shaped by Arabic patriarchal norms.
Al Madani, an Emirati local, wants to break the stereotypes and show the world that women are free, not controlled and, contrary to popular opinion, not submissive.
“I represent the era of modern Arab woman. So I what I want to do through the show is kill the misconception, and the stereotype the West and the rest of the world has of the Arab Middle Eastern woman. We are strong women, we’re free. We’re not submissive, we’re not controlled. We’re living our life the way we want,” she said
