Loadshedding schedule for week of Monday, 6 February 2023, confirmed
Following a week of Stage 5 loadshedding, the embattled national electricity supplier confirmed the plan going forward is to try and keep rolling blackouts throttled between Stages 3 and 4.
This week, the power utility will implement loadshedding at Stage 3 during morning peak periods, and Stage 4 in the evenings. If no further unplanned breakdowns occur, then households and businesses could be offered a bit of relief with Stage 2 between 05:00 and 16:00 on Wednesday, 8 February 2023.
In a statement, Eskom confirmed that “since Sunday, two generation units at Arnot, a single unit each at Camden, Duvha and Kendal power stations were taken offline for repairs.”
“The return to service of a generation unit each at Kendal and Lethabo power stations have been delayed while a unit each at Duvha and Lethabo power stations were returned to service,” the statement read.
At the time of reporting, breakdowns amounted to:
- 15 215MW (unplanned)
- 5 199MW (planned maintenance)
It remains unclear, at this juncture, what the schedule will look like from Thursday, 9 February 2023.
