It is the season to start thinking about fun Christmas crafts ideas to do with your children and get the festive mood going. Fun crafts are one of the simplest and cheapest ways that kids can express their creativity and keep busy during the holidays.
Five easy Christmas crafts ideas
Using supplies that you probably already have in your house, here are five easy Christmas crafts that will get your kids even more excited about the holiday season.
Paper plate Santa
Paper plate Santa is a fun craft that only requires,
- paper plate
- crayons
- cotton balls
- kid friendly glue
Use the middle of the paper plate to draw a set of eyes and a nose. Then use the bottom half to stick enough cotton balls to create Santa’s beard. You can either use crayons to colour the top half red or you can cut out a Christmas hat shape and paste it onto the top of the paper plate.
Paper star ornaments
For this project, all you need is a paper star cut out, rhinestones to embellish the stars and string.
For a more difficult craft idea, you can cut out different sized stars then stack them together to create a multi-dimensional star then create a hole for the string to hang on the Christmas tree.
Beaded candy canes
This is another easy and fun craft. All you need is green chenille pipe cleaners and beads. Add the beads to the pipe cleaner and once it is all beaded up, it just has to be bent into the correct candy cane shape.
Paper straw Christmas trees
With just paper straws and glue, you can create a colourful and beautifully handcrafted ornament. Stick two paper straws together to create the stem, then cut the rest of the straws into different sizes that will be glued onto the stem to form a Christmas tree.
Christmas cards
Christmas cards are another super easy craft idea, with the coloured paper of your choice, cut it into small squares that will fold into a card and decorate with different festive decorations of your choice.
