Notorious fraudster Billy McFarland, who gained infamy for the disastrous Fyre Festival in 2017, has revealed plans for a second edition of the festival, aptly named Fyre Festival II.
Billy McFarland wants you to fork out $7 999 for Fyre Festival II tickets
The announcement comes after McFarland’s release from prison for fraud charges related to the original festival. The new event is stirring controversy as tickets are being sold for exorbitant prices despite the previous debacle.
A Bold Announcement
In a recently posted YouTube video, McFarland officially unveiled his intention to revive the ill-fated Fyre Festival with a sequel, Fyre Festival II.
Sporting an air of confidence, McFarland announced that he had formulated a comprehensive 50-page business plan for the festival during his time in prison.
The event is slated to take place in the Caribbean towards the end of 2024.
While key details such as dates, location, and lineup remain under wraps, tickets are already available for purchase on the festival’s website. Prices range from $499 to a staggering $7 999.
A Past Marred by Fraud
McFarland’s reputation was tainted by his involvement in the original Fyre Festival, which ended in disaster.
The 2017 event, co-launched with rapper Ja Rule, promised an extravagant luxury music festival experience but delivered subpar accommodations and meals.
McFarland’s fraudulent activities landed him in federal prison, where he served a four-year sentence for scamming investors and committing wire fraud.
Upon his release in 2022, he entered a halfway house and has since been on supervised release.
A Dubious Attempt at Redemption
McFarland’s attempt at redemption was met with scepticism.
The initial festival left attendees stranded and disillusioned, and McFarland’s involvement in a new event raises concerns about the potential for history to repeat itself.
Despite his claims of having secured the “best partners in the world” and aspirations to bring people together, the scepticism surrounding McFarland’s credibility persists.
