Akira Toriyama dies: What’s the cause of death?
A family statement released in the wee hours of Friday confirmed the creator of the iconic Manga series Dragon Ball died of acute subdural hematoma, a type of bleeding that occurs between the brain and its outermost covering, often due to severe head injury, leading to increased pressure on the brain.
His family and close relatives held a private funeral service, adhering to his wish for tranquillity. They have requested privacy during this difficult time, asking for no flowers, condolence gifts, or interviews.
“It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm. Also, he would have many more things to achieve. However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world. Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities for over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come,” the statement read.
