BAPE streetwear legacy continues with adidas Originals Stan Smith collaboration
So, adidas and BAPE are at it again, and this time they’re spicing up the iconic Stan Smith. Yep, you heard right – in honour of BAPE’s 30th anniversary, they’re reimagining this old-school favourite with some serious streetwear flair.
The redesigned BAPE Stan Smiths showcase a synthetic leather upper that incorporates 60% recycled materials, aligning with current trends in sustainable fashion.
The design also features a solid camo pattern, characteristic of BAPE’s style, and includes gold foil co-branding details.
These aren’t just any sneakers; they’re a celebration. With ’30th Anniversary’ gold lace jewels and a custom box, BAPE is really going all out to mark this milestone.
The release of these sneakers was accompanied by a marketing campaign featuring an oversized claw machine, a playful nod to both nostalgia and modern sneaker culture.
Set for release on Saturday, 18 November 2023, the sneakers will be available through various retail channels, including adidas’ CONFIRMED app and BAPE.COM.
Founded in 1993 by Nigo in Tokyo, Japan, A Bathing Ape (BAPE®) started as a small boutique selling custom screen-printed t-shirts.
It quickly grew into a global streetwear phenomenon, known for its bold and distinctive designs, including the iconic shark hoodie and camo patterns.
BAPE expanded its reach globally in the early 2000s, becoming a staple in the wardrobes of hip-hop artists and fashion enthusiasts. Its collaborations with various artists and brands have cemented its status as a trendsetter in streetwear culture.
