Comic Con Africa 2022 is well under way and I am still not underestimating it. I found myself enjoying it more and more as time passed.
Here’s what went down on the second day of Comic Con Africa 2022
On day two of the convention, I spent most of my time near the KFC main stage in Hall 6The reason I did this was mainly to observe my surroundings. Also I heard that Stranger Things actor Jamie Campbell Bower was going to make an appearance.
While I waited for Bower who was scheduled to show at 12:00, I ventured not too far from the stage.I eventually got my caricature done at a booth covered with all types of drawings. As I sat at Mike Crumbs Cartoonist, Mike highlighted that he was self-taught in this profession. I thought that being self-taught and bringing yourself this far was quite inspiring.
Most of the artists at the convention were also self-taught.
When the clock struck 12:00, the main host, Dj Elliot, introduced Bower to the audience. The audience immediately flew into a frenzy. Bower took his seat, and the interview got off to a great start.
Bower noted that it was not his first time in South Africa. He previously worked in Cape Town in 2009 on the show called The Prisoner. He stayed in South Africa for three months and Namibia for two.
When asked about what the future holds, Bower hinted that he has many projects ahead of him. He told the audience about an upcoming movie in which he stars called A True Haunting.
“Based on a story about a young couple in 1970. It is a true story. They moved into a house in Chicago and the house was haunted,” Bower explained.
He added that aside from this movie, he would also be working on a new film with Kevin Costner. Shooting will start in October.
“I’m about to go work on a film with Kevin Costner of Waterworld. Some of you aren’t old enough to remember Waterworld.”
Bower is not only focusing on his acting career as he announced that he has new music on the way as well. Jamie was the front man for the band Counterfeit from 2015 until 2020.
What you can expect from Day three of the convention
Day three of Comic Con will see more spotlight guest appearances from Selwyn Ward, Khylin Rhambo, Dylan Sprayberry, and Ross Butler. Jamie Campbell Bower will make another appearance.
There will be casual cosplay and Nintendo Cosplay Competitions with many prizes to be won. Live drawing sessions are highly anticipated with Leigh Le Roux, Michael Way, Tafadzwa Shumba, and Gerald Bakasa.
Many more gaming competitions and leagues to be played. More, more, more.
If day two was a massive success, I cannot wait to see what day three offers. Do not forget your costume and I will see you there.
