Homicide investigators have cast a wide net in search of a man believed to be involved in the brutal murder of a 22-year-old woman from Limpopo.

The body of Grace Mudau was found by community members in a home she frequented, in Ha-Mutsha, a village situated in the KhweKhwe region of Limpopo, on Saturday 29 August 2020.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, authorities were called to a kraal that belonged to Mudau’s boyfriend, Kenneth Mphaphuli, after her body, gutted with multiple stab wounds, was discovered.
“Preliminary investigations were conducted and revealed that the deceased might have been killed elsewhere and the body then dumped at the scene,” Mojapelo noted in a statement.

Mudau’s boyfriend was nowhere to be found and remains at large. Conflicting reports have emerged on social media claiming that the boyfriend has been arrested. However, this was not confirmed by Colonel Mojapelo.
Furthermore, based on evidence collected thus far, homicide investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a second suspect involved in Mudau’s hacking.
At this time, Mphaphuli has been urged to “avail himself at the Levubu police station as it is believed he might be able to assist with investigations.”
“The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned this horrendous act and instructed the Police to hunt down the perpetrator(s) and bring them to book,” Colonel Mojapelo added.
