Armstrong Avenue in La Lucia, Durban, has been cordoned off by police after a male motorist was gunned down while travelling in the Durban suburb on Tuesday morning.

Lead investigators and forensic teams have been collecting a trail of evidence left by an unknown number of gunmen who released a hail of bullets on a man believed to be in his 40s.
Details around the incident are still unknown at this stage but, from what we understand, the seemingly orchestrated attack took place at approximately 08:00, not too far away from a school.
Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement with more information on the identity of the victims or whether any strides have been made in identifying the perpetrators involved in the vicious murder.
Camera footage, if any exists, from properties on Armstrong Avenue will play a crucial role in assisting investigators with piecing together the events that transpired on the bustling road on Tuesday morning.
At this time, all that is known is the motorist was riding past when suddenly, witnesses heard a hail of gunfire, followed by a loud crash. Eyewitnesses who were in the vicinity of the crime scene claim that the victim, shortly after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, lost control of his car and crashed into a nearby business park.
Netcare 911 also released a statement confirming the incident. This is the account given by first responders who came to the man’s aid when the shooting was reported.
“Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male had been shot multiple times by a high calibre rifle while seated in his vehicle. The man was assessed. However, he showed no signs of life and was pronounced deceased on the scene,” Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst explained.
Police in La Lucia had not responded to our request for comment at the time this article was published.
