What started out as a peaceful Tuesday morning for a resident from Hammond Lane quickly escalated into a nightmare after three armed men trespassed his property with guns drawn.
As confirmed by metadata found on the security camera footage, which has since surfaced online, the incident took place shortly after 06:00.
An unidentified resident, completely unaware of the danger that lay ahead, left his automatic gate wide open when, seemingly out of the blue, three armed gunmen rushed into his yard, the leading perpetrator pointing his loaded firearm out of frame.
For several gruelling seconds, a commotion took place out of camera. The scuffle alerted neighbours who sounded off the alarm, unsettling the home invaders.
Visibly shaken, one of the robbers who stood guard at the gate pulled out his weapon and fired a shot at a property across the road and his two co-conspirators ran out of the house, seemingly empty-handed.
By then, a silver getaway vehicle had pulled up and the armed gunmen jumped inside and peeled away.
Details about the incident were sketchy when this article was published. Therefore, it’s unclear if the suspects managed to get away with anything of value.
It’s understood, however, that Gauteng authorities are treating the incident as a robbery and attempted hijacking investigation.
