A shocking incident unfolded outside the Moorton Shopping Centre this morning, where a taxi driver, blatantly ignoring orders, rammed into an Ethekwini Metro Police officer.

The scene, captured on CCTV, shows the taxi accelerating towards the officer, who had been attempting to manage the situation.
The moments leading up to the incident were fraught with tension, as the taxi driver maneuvered his vehicle in a manner that suggested a clear defiance of law enforcement directives.
In the aftermath of the collision, ALS Paramedics rushed to the scene, arriving just after 08:30. They found the Metro Police officer, a man in his thirties, seriously injured and lying on the roadway.
Advanced Life Support medics immediately sprang into action, stabilising the officer on-site amidst the chaos.
The officer had sustained multiple injuries and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
“The taxi driver is believed to have been arrested by Metro Police. SAPS also attended and both Metro Police and SAPS will be investigate further,” ALS Paramedics noted.
Given the severity of the situation, the taxi driver may face serious legal consequences.
Charges could range from reckless endangerment to attempted manslaughter, considering the deliberate nature of the act.
The legal system will determine the appropriate penalties, taking into account the evidence gathered during the investigation and the taxi driver’s actions leading up to the collision.
