As reported by community newspaper Rising Sun, the latest incident marks the third robbery targeting the well-established store, following similar incidents in 2017 and 2018.
Disturbing videos and images have surfaced, providing a glimpse into the audacious crime that unfolded just before 13:00. The footage reveals shattered display cabinets, once adorned with precious jewellery.
One particular video captures four individuals outside the store, surrounded by billowing smoke, as they violently kick the glass entrance. Moments later, a fifth suspect, wearing distinctive red gloves, emerges from inside the shop, handing another individual what appears to be a tray of stolen jewellery before making a swift getaway.
The perpetrators managed to escape in a silver Toyota Avanza, with reports indicating that the displayed number plate was falsified to hinder identification.
As authorities arrived at the scene, the perimeter had to be expanded to accommodate the investigation, causing nearby stores to temporarily close.
Staff members and onlookers watched as law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area. During the commotion, one of the suspects seemingly dropped a blue duvet or sheet, which was likely used to facilitate the theft.
Multiple similar items were spotted in close proximity, suggesting an efficient means of carrying the stolen goods.

While initial reports indicated that multiple stores may have fallen victim to the criminals, a statement allegedly issued by Chatsworth Centre management assured tenants that only one jewellery store was targeted.
According to the statement, no staff or shoppers were harmed during the incident, and there was no exchange of gunfire. The management emphasised that the situation is under control and normal business operations can resume, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
They also indicated that a comprehensive statement would be released in due course.
With a significant police presence, including the Metro Police and the South African Police Service (SAPS), investigations into the incident are currently underway.
