Watch: Golden Arrow passengers robbed by Cape Town man
Cape Town police had not returned our request for comment at the time this article was published, but surveillance footage taken from a bus parked on Spine Road on Friday morning shows the harrowing moment passengers’ lives were threatened by a gun-wielding man.
Metadata from the footage indicates the robbery occurred at approximately 06:37. Further, reports suggest the Golden Arrow bus was filling up at an Engen petrol station on Khayelitsha’s main road connecting to the N2 highway when an unidentified male entered with a scarf wrapped around his neck.
Passengers certainly got a good look at the robber since he stood for a while before he quickly pulled the scarf to his nose and ordered everyone to produce their valuables.
The lone robber calmly made his way to the back of the bus, stopping to search and take passengers’ belongings.
The ordeal lasted for about 90 seconds, and as he turned to leave, surveillance cameras installed by Golden Arrow in response to waves of similar robberies in the past caught a good glimpse of the suspect’s face.
While Cape Town police have yet to issue a formal statement with details on the brazen robbery, this is the individual they may be looking for:
