Residents of Berea, Durban, have been warned to be on the lookout for a syndicate of cellphone snatchers on the prowl for unsuspecting victims.
Watch: Berea cellphone snatcher stuns unsuspecting women
Durban law enforcement authorities would have already been tipped off about the movements of the syndicate you will see in the video footage below. In this incident, an unidentified man, wearing a black dad hat and a plain white t-shirt was caught on CCTV the moment he launched into two female passers-by and made off with one of their cellphones.
In the video clip, the man stands on the side of the road, innocuously leaning against the passenger door of a white Volkswagen vehicle with no registration plates.
Of course, the unsuspecting passers-by were none the wiser to this glaring red flag. The first female walks past carrying a bag over her shoulder, with two other women approaching from behind.
Suddenly, as the two women walk past the man, carrying shopping bags, he launches into one of them and grabs what appears to be a cellphone out of her hands, before diving into the vehicle that sped off.
It’s believed the suspects involved in this incident are still at large and residents of Berea and surrounding areas are warned to be on the lookout for a white VW with no registration plates.
Here is the cellphone snatching incident that was captured on CCTV.
